NFL September to January in a dome that holds sound like a jar. The building also draws Super Bowls and college basketball finals in rotation.

NBA basketball October to April in the arena next door, so the whole sporting district sits within a fifteen-minute walk of the Quarter.
Fair Grounds Race Course
Thoroughbred racing from November to March at one of the oldest tracks in the country, with the Louisiana Derby in March. Grandstand entry is cheap.
Crescent City Classic
A 10K run each April from the Superdome to City Park, twenty thousand entrants, half of them in costume, and open to walk-up amateurs.
