Palisades Tahoe
The 1960 Winter Olympics site in Olympic Valley, now linked by gondola to Alpine Meadows. Season runs late November into April, occasionally May in a big year.
The Great Ski Race
A cross-country race from Tahoe City over the ridge to Truckee, run each March since the seventies and open to anyone who can cover thirty kilometres.
Edgewood celebrity golf
A televised celebrity tournament takes over the Edgewood course at Stateline each July, with the lake behind the greens and generous grounds access.
Marathons and open water
A lakeside marathon runs in early autumn, and a relay swim crosses the lake in midsummer. Both are harder than sea level, and the water bites.
