Twenty minutes south, a long sandy stretch with shallow water, a kiosk and lifeguards in high summer. Norderstrand is closer but stonier.

A guided limestone cave north of town, cool and dripping, open in the summer months. Helmets provided; nervous under-fives may not enjoy it.

Visby's old town is steep and stony — a carrier beats a pushchair inside the wall. Outside it, the island is flat and made for bike trailers.
