A cold-water break with a surf school, board and wetsuit hire, and a contest each autumn. The waves work best from September through winter.

Held off Svolvær in March during the skrei season, when boats fill the harbour and the whole archipelago smells of drying fish.

From roughly February to May you can climb from sea level to summit and ski back to the beach. Guides operate out of Svolvær and Henningsvær.

Long-distance mountain races run through July and August, and the village clubs play lower-division football on pitches with absurd backdrops.
