Å, Stamsund and Kabelvåg
The old fishing villages hold the cheapest beds — hostels in converted rorbuer at Å and Stamsund, guesthouses at Kabelvåg, all far cheaper than Reine.
What a day costs
Camping and self-catering keeps it to NOK 600–1,100, roughly $55–105. A rorbu bed roughly doubles that, and village shops charge island prices.
The E10 bus and hitching
Buses run the E10 spine only a few times a day. Hitchhiking is normal and quick here, and the Bodø–Moskenes ferry takes foot passengers cheaply.
Free by day
The stone staircase up Reinebringen, the walk over to Kvalvika beach, and the white sand at Haukland and Uttakleiv — free, and weather-dependent.
Stamsund harbour
The old hostel by the quay has drawn travellers for decades: shared kitchens, borrowed rowing boats and the evening's plans made over cheap pasta.
