The plan

Santa Claus Village
Cross the Arctic Circle line, meet Santa year-round, post a letter with the Arctic postmark.
Husky and reindeer sledding
The two classic Lapland drives — reindeer slow and silent, huskies fast and loud.
Arktikum museum
Half-buried under a glass tube, the best explanation of the Arctic anywhere.
Aurora hunting
Sep–Mar, out of town where the sky is dark.
Ice floating & snowshoes
Float in a survival suit on a frozen river — absurd and unforgettable.

Getting there

Fly into
Rovaniemi (RVN) — direct from Helsinki in 90 minutes, seasonal from Europe. Or the overnight sleeper train.
From the airport
Airport bus to town and Santa Claus Village (which is on the way).
Getting around
Buses in town; excursions collect from hotels. Winter driving needs studded tyres and care.
