Paved riverside trails and a free shuttle make Zion unusually workable with small children.
Pa'rus Trail
Paved, flat and about 3.5 miles return along the Virgin River from the visitor centre. Bikes, strollers and wading spots; the only trail dogs may use.
Riverside Walk
Paved for just over a mile from the last shuttle stop to where the Narrows begins. Hanging gardens, deep shade, easy turnaround at any point.
Junior Ranger booklet
Pick up the booklet at the visitor centre or the Human History Museum; the badge takes a couple of hours of trail time and a chat with a ranger. Ages roughly 4–13.
Lower Emerald Pool
About 1.2 miles return on a wide, gently graded path to a dripping alcove. Skip the upper pools with under-sixes — the steps get exposed.
Heat and shuttle timing
The canyon floor passes 100°F from June to September. Ride out early, be back by midday, and refill bottles at the visitor centre — shade is scarce past ten.
