Summer astronomy nights at the Glacier Point Amphitheater: drop in any time after 8.30pm, and programmes run two to four hours depending on the host and the sky. Astronomy clubs host weekly star parties from 3 July to 15 August 2026, and it is cancelled if the sky is overcast — worth checking before you commit to the hour's drive up from the Valley.

Cocktails and appetizers around a Swedish-style fireplace where you can roast marshmallows. Open 5–10pm Monday to Friday and noon to 10pm at weekends, but hot food stops at 7.30pm, so eat before you settle in.

The bar side of the Ahwahnee hotel, open daily 11.30am to 11pm with cocktails and light dining and both indoor and outdoor seating. Casual clothes are fine here even though the dining room next door expects otherwise, and it serves later than anywhere else in the Valley.

The casual bar at Curry Village, serving lunch and dinner next to the Pizza Deck. This is the default cheap evening in the Valley if you are camping or in a tent cabin rather than staying at the Lodge or the Ahwahnee.

At 18761 State Highway 120 on the Big Oak Flat approach; the granite building predates 1852 and the bar claims to be the oldest saloon in California. Grill runs 11am–5pm and 5–9pm, to 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and the saloon stays open after the kitchen closes, with live music most weekends and karaoke from 9pm on Thursdays.
