Two base areas — Canyons Village and Mountain Village — linked across terrain the resort bills as the largest in the US. In summer the Mountain Village side runs the Flying Eagle zipline, a mountain coaster, a climbing wall and gem panning. Lift tickets are expensive at the window; buy well ahead.

2250 Deer Valley Drive South, and still a ski-only resort — snowboards are not permitted — with a reputation built on grooming and lift capacity rather than steeps. Hiking and lift-served mountain biking in summer, and currently in the middle of a large terrain expansion.

3419 Olympic Parkway: the ski jump, bobsled and Nordic venue from the 2002 Games, still in use for training by national teams and the Park City Nordic Ski Club. Ride and adventure activities are ticketed and hours change by season, so check or call 435.658.4200 before driving up.

528 Main Street, open daily 10am–5pm. Covers the silver-mining decades and the awkward transition into a ski resort, with changing exhibits in the Tozer Gallery. An hour indoors and the obvious bad-weather option.

Armstrong, Mid Mountain, Silver Queen and dozens more — a non-motorised trail network maintained by the donor-funded Mountain Trails Foundation and free to use. It is what the town does from June to October, hiking and mountain biking straight off the end of Main Street.
