A replica Parthenon, a zoo with an enormous playground, and a bar strip to time carefully.
Adventure Science Center
Three floors of hands-on physics plus the Sudekum Planetarium, south of downtown. Ages four to twelve, and the climbing tower alone buys an hour.
Nashville Zoo at Grassmere
Known as much for its vast wooden playground as its animals, with kangaroos you walk among. Ages two to ten; the playground is the last stop, not the first.
The Parthenon
A full-scale replica in Centennial Park holding a 42-foot gilded Athena. Ages six upwards inside; younger ones prefer the duck pond and playground outside.
Cheekwood Estate and Gardens
A mansion, fifty-five acres of gardens, a storybook trail and seasonal light installations. Ages three to ten, and a good half day away from the noise.
Broadway timings
Most honky-tonks turn strictly over-21 in the evening but welcome families for the afternoon sets. Summer humidity is heavy, so plan indoor stops after two.
