Restored 1937 art deco theatre at 1350 Third Street in downtown Napa's West End, booking blues, rock, jazz, folk, country and stand-up — recent bills have run from Jose Gonzalez to Brian Regan. The room is shallow enough that the back row is only about 98 feet from the stage.

Blue Note's Napa operation now runs out of The Meritage Resort at 850 Bordeaux Way as the Blue Note Napa Summer Sessions; the original club at 1030 Main Street, which ran from 2016, has closed. Box office is 707.880.2300 and shows are mostly evening starts — check the calendar rather than assuming a nightly programme.

Food hall at 610 and 644 First Street in Napa, open 7:30am to 9pm daily, which makes it one of the few places in the valley still serving at a normal dinner hour. Bar Lucia, Fieldwork Brewing, Hog Island Oyster Bar and a wood-fired pizza counter all operate inside.

The original HopMonk, a 120-year-old stone and timber tavern at 230 Petaluma Ave in Sebastopol, open 11:30am to 9pm and to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. There is a dog-friendly beer garden and a separate live-music room called the Abbey, plus trivia nights — it is the most reliable night out on the Sonoma side.

Almost every winery stops pouring around 5pm and many are appointment-only, so the day ends earlier than visitors expect. The valley is rural, the roads between towns are dark and unlit, and there is no useful late transit — settle the designated driver or the car service before the first tasting, not after.
