University of Hawaii teams
Rainbow Warriors football September to November, and men's volleyball January to April at the Stan Sheriff Center, which sells out in a way football rarely does.
North Shore surf season
The big swells arrive November to February and the contest window at Pipeline and Sunset falls inside it. Watching from the sand costs nothing.
Outrigger canoe regattas
Club racing runs through the summer off Ala Moana and Keehi, and the long channel crossings to Molokai come in autumn. Free to watch from the beach.
Marathon and surf lessons
The Honolulu Marathon runs in December with no entry cap. Beginner lessons on the soft rollers at Canoes go year-round for roughly 75–120 USD.
