El Tovar Hotel
On the rim since 1905, dark timber and Hopi motifs, with rooms looking straight into the canyon. Book thirteen months out.
Bright Angel Lodge
Mary Colter's 1935 cabins right on the rim, cheaper than El Tovar and just as well placed.
Phantom Ranch
At the bottom, by the river, reachable only on foot, by mule or by raft. Beds are allocated by lottery.
Grand Canyon Lodge, North Rim
Log-and-limestone on the North Rim edge, open mid-May to mid-October, and the quiet half of the park.
