The tavern at Fernwood Resort, 47200 CA-1, with live bands most Saturday nights plus trivia, karaoke and game nights. Note that as of 31 August 2026 Fernwood had cancelled reservations through 3 September because of backburning operations on the Timber Fire and a Highway 1 closure; phone 831 667 2422 for current status.

Beer bar and kitchen at 47520 Highway One, listed as open daily noon to 9pm, with a deli next door. It is one of the few places in the valley you can sit at a bar rather than a restaurant table. Phone 831 667 2197.

Clifftop restaurant listed as open daily 11:30am to 10pm, with Cafe Kevah below it doing breakfast from 9am weather permitting, and the family's Phoenix Shop open 10:30am to 6pm. Their own site carried a closure notice from 27 August 2026 for the Timber Fire, with a shelter-in-place order and Highway 1 shut.

There is no street lighting on Highway 1 through Big Sur and mobile coverage is patchy to non-existent for long stretches, so an evening here is stargazing and a headtorch rather than a bar crawl. Kitchens generally stop serving by nine; plan on driving the coast road in daylight.
