Season runs late November to mid-April, one pass across Ajax, Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass. Highland Bowl is a forty-minute bootpack for a very steep reward.
Winter X Games, Buttermilk
The action-sports contest has taken over Buttermilk each January for decades — superpipe, slopestyle, big air. General spectating has historically been free.
Aspen Ruggerfest
A rugby tournament held in town every autumn since the sixties, with club sides from across the country and a beer tent doing steady work.
Independence Pass by bike
The road over 12,095 feet closes for winter and reopens around late spring, giving cyclists a long, steady climb until the snow returns in autumn.
