THINGS TO DO
The things worth doing in Cornwall, from the obvious landmarks to the ones locals actually rate.
Turquoise water and cliffs at Kynance Cove
Eden Project
Bodelva, near St Austell, PL24 2SG. Two linked biome clusters in an old clay pit; book a dated ticket online rather than paying at the gate.
Barbara Hepworth Museum
Trewyn Studio on Barnoon Hill, where Hepworth worked from 1949 until 1975, left as it was with the sculpture standing where she put it. £11 with the donation, £10 without; a separate ticket from Tate St Ives.
Tin mining coast
The engine houses at Botallack and Levant stand on the cliff edge west of St Just, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the whole mining landscape.
Padstow and the Camel Trail
An eighteen-mile traffic-free cycle route along a disused railway from Padstow through Wadebridge to Bodmin. Bike hire at both ends.
Cornish food
A proper pasty is crimped on the side, not the top. Add fish landed at Newlyn, clotted cream, and saffron buns that predate all of it.
