Flights meet around 04:30 to 05:00 and hotel pickups start before that, so Göreme is largely quiet by midnight and plenty of places shut earlier. If you are flying in the morning, plan the evening around dinner rather than drinking.

A handful of small bars on and around Müze Caddesi in Göreme, some cut into the rock and some on roofs facing the valleys. They run to roughly 01:00 in summer and far fewer stay open in winter. This is the closest the region has to a bar street.

Ürgüp is the region's wine town, working the local Emir white and Kalecik Karası red, and the bars and tasting rooms around the main square pour them by the glass into the evening. It is about 20 minutes from Göreme by dolmuş, but the last one back is early, so plan a taxi.

Sema is staged most nights in restored caravanserais and cave halls around Avanos and Göreme, usually about an hour starting between 19:00 and 21:00, with tickets sold through hotels and agencies. It is a performance arranged for visitors rather than a religious service, and it is worth knowing that before you book.

Göreme's Sunset Point above the town and the ridges in Red Valley fill for the hour before dusk, with tea stands and, at some viewpoints, a small entry fee. In winter it is dark by around 17:00 and the valleys empty immediately afterwards.
