The pensions and hostels sit inside the Roman walls, a few minutes from the harbour and the tram. Cheap, central and shaded by orange trees.
What a day costs
About $25–40 a day, given in dollars because the lira moves too fast: dorm $10–18, kebabs and pide $8–15, transport and a beach chair $4–10.
Getting around cheap
The Antalyakart covers tram and bus; the nostalgic tram runs along the cliff to the museum. Intercity buses reach Olympos and Kaş from the otogar.
Free by day
Konyaaltı's long pebble beach, the cliff park where the Düden river falls into the sea, and the harbour walk below Hıdırlık Tower.
Where travellers meet
Kaleiçi's pension courtyards and harbour bars do the talking; two hours west, the Olympos treehouse camps are where the coast's backpackers converge.
