FIESTA SIDE
Where Zermatt goes after dark — bars, live music and the late ones worth staying up for.
The Matterhorn above the village of Zermatt in autumn
Hennu Stall
A slope-side après-ski bar on the way down from Furi that gets going mid-afternoon. You still have to ski home afterwards, which is the whole risk.
Papperla Pub
The loudest après room in the village, on Steinmattstrasse. Standing on the furniture is normal and nobody will ask you to stop.
Elsie's Bar
Oysters, champagne and whisky in a small wooden room opposite the church. Older, quieter and considerably more expensive than anything else on the street.
Bahnhofstrasse hotel bars
The main street runs on hotel bars and terraces. A beer at CHF 9 or 10 is normal here and nobody is embarrassed about it.
Late clubs
Zermatt keeps two or three club rooms running until the small hours through the season, and shuts them completely in May and November along with everything else.
