The things worth doing in St Moritz, from the obvious landmarks to the ones locals actually rate.
Piz Nair
The peak above Corviglia at 3,057 metres, with a view over the whole Upper Engadin. Note that the St Moritz Dorf-Chantarella-Corviglia funicular has been out of service for a major overhaul, so check what is actually running before planning around it.
Morteratsch Glacier
A signed trail from Morteratsch station up to the glacier snout, with markers along the way showing where the ice stood in each decade. Flat, easy and quietly devastating.
Guarda and Ardez
Down the valley: thick-walled Engadine houses with sgraffito scratched into the render and deep funnel windows cut through the walls. Guarda is the one on the postcards.
Corvatsch
Cable car from Surlej up to 3,303 metres, with a snow sports area, a long summer via ferrata and the descent across to Furtschellas.
Nietzsche House, Sils Maria
The room the philosopher rented for seven summers, in the village at the far end of Lake Silvaplana. Bus from St Moritz, and closed through the shoulder seasons.
