THINGS TO DO
The things worth doing in Geneva, from the obvious landmarks to the ones locals actually rate.
The Jet d'Eau on Lake Geneva with a rainbow in its spray
Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum
A serious, well-designed museum on humanitarian action and its limits, directly opposite the Palais des Nations. Check the closing day before you go.
Mouettes across the harbour
The little yellow ferries cross in five minutes on an ordinary public transport ticket, which makes them the cheapest boat ride in Switzerland.
Patek Philippe Museum
Four centuries of watchmaking and enamel miniatures, laid out without any hurry at all. Open afternoons; check which days before you walk over.
Parc de la Grange and Parc des Eaux-Vives
The left-bank park pair, with the city's rose garden and lawns running down to the water. Geneva treats them as its own back garden and so should you.
Plainpalais market
A large flea market twice a week on the diamond-shaped plain, produce on other days, and the antiquarian dealers up in the Old Town for the expensive version.
