Galärvarvsvägen 14 on Djurgården, built around the only preserved 17th-century ship in the world, raised in 1961 after 333 years on the seabed. Daily 10:00–17:00 and Wednesday to 20:00; 240 kr for adults, free under 18, or 359 kr combined with the Vrak wreck museum. Wheeled luggage and large bags are not allowed in.

Djurgårdsslätten 49–51, the world's oldest open-air museum: 190 buildings moved here from around Sweden and staffed with craft demonstrations, plus a zoo of Nordic animals, a children's zoo and the Baltic Sea Science Center. Generally 10:00–17:00, with the animal sections keeping shorter hours out of season.

Stadsgårdshamnen 22, a photography museum open 10:00–23:00 every day with the bar running to 22:00 — which makes it the one major Stockholm museum you can visit properly after dinner. Buy online; the harbourside walk back up into Södermalm is part of the point.

The working royal palace in Gamla Stan, over 600 rooms across eleven floors, with the Royal Apartments, the Treasury holding the crown jewels, the Tre Kronor Museum in the medieval cellars and Gustav III's museum of antiquities on one ticket. Typically open 10:00–16:00; Riddarholmen Church, the royal burial church, is five minutes' walk away.

On Skeppsholmen, main entrance Exercisplan 4, with the twentieth-century collection plus temporary shows. 170 kr, free under 18, closed Mondays, open to 20:00 on Fridays and free on Friday evenings 18:00–20:00; online tickets cost less than at the door.
