Valencia CF at Mestalla
Valencia CF play in one of Spain's steepest stands, right in the city. La Liga runs August to May, and a replacement stadium has been half-built for years.
Levante UD
The city's other club plays across the old riverbed at the Ciutat de València — cheaper, calmer and on the same August-to-May calendar.
Valencia Marathon
The marathon runs in December and the half in October, both flat, fast and used for record attempts; entries sell out months in advance.
Pilota valenciana
The Valencian handball game is still played in village trinquets and at the Pelayo court in the city. Matches are cheap, short and extremely loud.
