ON A BUDGET
Seville is cheap outside its two big festival weeks, and half of it — plazas, orange trees, riverside — is free.
Alameda de Hércules
Hostels sit around the Alameda and in Santa Cruz. The Alameda is cheaper, livelier and about ten minutes' walk from the cathedral.
What a day costs
Dorm €18–32, a tapas dinner €12–18 if eaten standing at the bar, buses €1.40. A day lands €40–70, roughly $45–80.
Getting around cheap
Sevici bike hire sells a week's access for a few euros and the city is flat; one tram line and a short metro cover what walking does not.
Free by day
Plaza de España and the Parque de María Luisa, the Alameda, and the cathedral, which opens a free Monday-evening slot that must be booked ahead.
Setas de Sevilla steps
The wooden parasol structure at Encarnación draws a crowd at sunset; the Alameda terraces and the free tours from Plaza Nueva take it from there.
