FIESTA SIDE
Marbella has two nights at very different prices: Puerto Banús, where the door policy and the bill are the whole point, and the old town six kilometres east, where a drink costs what it costs anywhere in Andalucía.
Marbella beach with beach bar and palms
Puerto Banús
The marina about 6 km west of Marbella centre, with terraces along the front and clubs in the streets behind. Expect door policies, table minimums in the clubs and prices to match; the promenade itself is free to walk and busy until very late in summer.
Olivia Valere
The long-running club on Carretera de Istán at km 0.8, built as a Moorish palace. It opens Friday and Saturday only. Dress code is enforced: a shirt is mandatory for men, and t-shirts, shorts, tracksuits, caps, sandals and flip-flops are all refused.
La Sala Puerto Banús
Calle Juan Belmonte in Nueva Andalucía, open 10:00–02:00 daily and to 03:00 at weekends. It is a restaurant that turns into a live music room — singers, tribute sets and DJs seven nights — which makes it the easiest single booking if you want dinner and a night in one place.
Ocean Club Marbella
A 9,000 m² beach club on Avenida Lola Flores in Nueva Andalucía, built around a saltwater pool. The pattern is a long afternoon that turns into the evening rather than a late opening; beds and tables are booked in advance and are not cheap.
The old town after dark
Plaza de los Naranjos and the lanes around it, where the bars are ordinary Spanish bars with ordinary Spanish prices. If Banús has priced you out, this is the answer, and it is a short bus or taxi ride back along the coast road.
