The old fishing barrio just west of the centre, built around a covered market. By night it is the closest thing Palma has to a going-out neighbourhood for people who live here — small bars, small restaurants, walkable from the cathedral in about twenty minutes.

The lanes around the 15th-century merchants' exchange, between the cathedral and the port. Denser and more touristed than Santa Catalina, and the part of the old town that stays open latest.

A 701-berth marina at Portals Nous, about 10 km from Palma and 16 km from the airport, with waterfront restaurants, bars and boutiques. This is the expensive end of the island's night and it is priced accordingly.

The German-language strip, six kilometres of beachfront hotels east of the airport with beer halls and schlager bars behind it. Loud, cheap, entirely seasonal, and a bus ride from Palma — go knowing exactly what it is.

The British equivalent, 20 km west of Palma in Calvià. The clubs and bars are concentrated on one short street, the season runs roughly May to October, and out of season the strip is genuinely shut rather than quiet.
