Granada CF
The club moves between Spain's top two divisions and plays at Nuevo Los Cármenes. The season runs August to May and tickets cost far less than in Madrid.
Sierra Nevada ski season
The most southerly ski resort in Europe runs roughly December to April, with high-altitude snow into spring and lift passes cheaper than the Alps.
Riding towards Pico Veleta
Cyclists climb the road above the ski station from June to September — more than two thousand metres of ascent from the city. Road bikes hire in town.
Basketball and street sport
The city's basketball club plays at the Palacio de Deportes from autumn to spring, and the student population fills municipal courts and five-a-side pitches nightly.
