The city's club plays at the Estadio José Rico Pérez in Spain's lower divisions. The season runs August to May and tickets stay in single figures.

Alicante is the traditional starting port for the round-the-world race, held every few years; the harbour turns into a free race village for weeks.

Twenty minutes south, run in January on a flat coastal course; it draws a large field because the weather is reliably cool and dry.

The Real Club de Regatas runs courses and hires boats, and kayak operators launch from Postiguet and San Juan through the summer.
