WITH KIDS
Calm bays, a cable car over the sea and a seaside train that solves tired legs.
Haeundae skyline across the water
Haeundae Blueline Park
A slow beach train and a four-seat sky capsule running the old coastal railway between Mipo and Songjeong. Popular with all ages; capsules book out.
Songdo Marine Cable Car
Glass-floored cabins crossing the bay at Songdo, with a small headland park at the far end. Fine from about age three, subject to nerve.
Sea Life Busan Aquarium
Under the sand at Haeundae, with a shark tunnel and otters. About ninety minutes, and a reliable rescue on a wet or freezing day.
National Maritime Museum
Free, hands-on and built around ships and a small aquarium on Yeongdo island. Aimed at ages five to twelve, and quiet on weekdays.
Hills, steps and swimming
Busan is built on slopes โ€” a carrier beats a pushchair in Gamcheon. Beaches are lifeguarded and roped only in the July to August season.
