Rotating cable car to the summit, running roughly 08:30 to 18:00 with the last car down at 19:00. Operation changes daily with wind, so check the site the morning you go; buying online saves the ticket-office queue.

Ferry from the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront to the prison island, departing 09:00, 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00 and taking about 3.5 hours in total. Non-South African adults R600, under-18s R310; sailings are cancelled in rough seas.

SANBI's garden on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, with the Boomslang canopy walkway and the foot of the Skeleton Gorge route up the mountain. Ticketed; allow at least half a day.

Both sit inside Table Mountain National Park at the southern end of the peninsula and each charges its own conservation fee. Boulders is the African penguin colony at Simon's Town; Cape Point is a further drive south, so do them on one long day.
