FC Porto
The Primeira Liga runs August to May, with European nights midweek. The Estádio do Dragão is on the blue metro line; buy through the club.
Boavista at the Bessa
The city's other club plays at the Bessa in the west — a smaller ground, cheap tickets and the same August-to-May calendar.
Rabelo boat regatta
The flat-bottomed port boats race up the Douro during the city's June festival, from Gaia to the bridges. Free to watch from either bank.
Surf at Matosinhos
The beach north of the river mouth has consistent beginner waves and a row of surf schools. Wetsuits year-round; the water never really warms up.
