Siargao ยท Backpacking

ON A BUDGET
A teardrop island of coconut roads and reef breaks, reached by a short flight or a ferry.
Aerial view of Siargao's coast and boats
General Luna
Hostels line Tourism Road between the town and Cloud 9, most with boards, bikes and a bar. Everything is within a ten-minute scooter ride.
What a day costs
Dorm โ‚ฑ500โ€“1,000, food โ‚ฑ300โ€“600, scooter โ‚ฑ400โ€“500 a day. Around โ‚ฑ1,000โ€“1,800, roughly 18โ€“32 USD, plus board hire.
Getting around cheap
A scooter is the default; habal-habal motorbike taxis and tricycles fill in. Flights land at Sayak from Cebu and Manila, or the ferry from Surigao takes two to three hours.
Free by day
The Cloud 9 boardwalk at dawn, the coconut-palm viewpoint on the road to Dapa, and the tidal flats at Maasin at low water.
Tourism Road strip
The bars and taco joints along Tourism Road, and the Sunday sessions that have become the island's fixed social calendar. Everyone passes through.
