Cienciano at altitude
Cusco's club plays at the Estadio Garcilaso de la Vega, at 3,400 metres, where visiting teams famously struggle. Liga 1 runs February to November in two halves.
Inca Trail and Salkantay
Inca Trail permits sell out months ahead and the route closes for maintenance each February; Salkantay needs no permit and costs about half.
High-altitude trail races
