WITH KIDS
Warm shallow water, starfish on the sand and a boat journey attached to everything you do.
Waterfront houses of Bocas town
Playa Estrella
Starfish Beach on the far side of Isla Colón: waist-deep, glassy water and orange starfish on the sand. Reachable by road or boat. Ages 2+.
Dolphin Bay and Zapatillas
A full-day boat loop through a bottlenose bay to the Zapatilla cays, with reef stops. Open crossings can be choppy after midday. Ages 6+.
Red Frog Beach
On Isla Bastimentos, reached by boat and a short path where guides show children the tiny red poison-dart frogs. Surf on the open side. Ages 4+.
Hospital Point snorkelling
A shallow reef wall five minutes from town, calm on most mornings and easy to snorkel from the boat. Ages 6+.
Life jackets and rain
Boats rarely carry child-sized jackets — bring your own. Rain is heaviest around July and again November to December, and no beach is walkable from town.
