Music venue and club at Brenneriveien 9c on the Akerselva river, programming indie, rock, jazz and DJ sets in a room small enough to see the stage from anywhere. It also runs Himmel in the same building.

Cocktail bar at Storgata 27 with a working distillery on site making aquavit, gin and vodka. Sun–Wed 17:00–00:00, Thu–Sat 17:00–02:00; drinks are Oslo-priced and worth it once.

Three floors of bar, café and event space at Youngs gate 6 — a library room, a greenhouse and a gaming bar — with quizzes, concerts, talks and stand-up most nights. Tue–Thu 10:00–22:00, Fri–Sat until 03:00, closed Sun–Mon; 20 years minimum throughout.

Central club that programmes house and techno at weekends and publishes its own listings and mixes. Look up who is playing before committing to the queue; this is a booking-led room rather than a place to wander into.

The pedestrian run between Youngstorget and Grünerløkka carries the densest line of bars in the city, from beer halls to cocktail rooms, so you can change venue every ten minutes without a taxi.
