Reconstruction of the longest Viking longhouse ever found, at Prestegårdsveien 4 near Bøstad, with an archaeological exhibition and a ship you can row. Summer tickets 265 kr adults, 170 kr children 6–15; hours drop to Tue–Sat 11:00–17:00 from mid-September and to Wednesdays and Saturdays only in November and December.

At the end of the E10 in Å (Åvegen 21, Sørvågen): boathouses, a cod-liver-oil works, smithy, bakery and rorbu cabins kept as they were between about 1840 and 1960. Daily 10:00–18:00 from 6 May to 30 September, then 11:00–15:00 until early December; 155 kr adults, 115 kr for children and students.

Stone staircase up the ridge above Reine, built by Nepalese trail builders; short, relentlessly steep and worth doing only in clear, dry conditions. In snow or ice it is a hazard rather than a walk.

Two white-sand bays on the west side of Vestvågøy with marked car parks, linked by a short coastal path and a road tunnel. The water is cold enough that swimming is a dare rather than a plan; the walk between them takes well under an hour.

Fishing village built across a cluster of islets, a signed detour off the E10 south-west of Svolvær, with galleries, cafés and the football pitch that ends up in everyone's photographs. Parking is tight in summer, so go early or late.
