A former dairy factory off the Leidseplein, now a multi-room venue doing live music, club nights, film and exhibitions in the same building. Programme runs most nights of the week; club nights are the late ones and gigs generally finish in time for them to start.

A converted 19th-century church hall a couple of minutes from Melkweg, running as a music venue since 1968, with concerts in the main hall and club nights and talks in the smaller rooms. It also programmes at satellite venues including Tolhuistuin and Bitterzoet, so check where your ticket actually is.

Basement club under the A'DAM Tower at Overhoeksplein 3 in Noord, reached by the free ferry from behind Centraal. Fridays and Saturdays roughly 23:00-06:00 on a Funktion-One rig, with extra nights during ADE in October; it holds a 24-hour permit so closing time moves.

The city's jazz and improvised-music room at Piet Heinkade 3 on the eastern waterfront, going since 1974. Concerts usually start 20:30, and the Tuesday jam session at 22:00 is free - the cheapest serious live music in Amsterdam.

An outdoor and warehouse site in the western harbour with three stages - an open-air Tempel, the Loods shed and a circus tent - programming house and techno. Many events are daytime, roughly 13:00-23:00, with some running through to 04:00 or 06:00, so read the times before you buy.
