Monks from a dozen traditions chant at dusk across the monastic zones. This is Lumbini's night out.

All the town's restaurants and the only real evening life sit along this one road outside the park gate.

There is no bar scene and the sacred zone is dry. A few Lumbini Bazar hotels serve beer in the evening.

Several monasteries run drop-in evening sittings and short residential courses. Ask at the monastery gate.

Flat, dark and wide open. Walk a little way out of the bazar and the stars are as good as anywhere in Nepal.
