A traffic-free waterfront and a five-minute boat ride, but no beach, no playground and a great many stone steps: plan half a day, not a whole one.

Locals row out after sunset and drop stones onto the reef around Our Lady of the Rocks — the ritual that built the island in the first place, and still going after more than five centuries. Free to watch from the quay.
The car-free quay
From May to October no cars come onto the seafront, so the one flat street in the village is safe to let children walk end to end. There is very little shade on it and no playground anywhere in Perast.
Day trip to the Kotor cable car
About half an hour down the bay: an 11-minute gondola to the Lovćen plateau, with an alpine coaster at €12 and a playground at the top station. Children aged 2–12 pay €7 return against €25 for adults.

Where families actually swim
Perast has no beach — locals go straight in off the promenade ladders, which is deep water with boat traffic. For a proper swim, Risan is 6km further up the bay and the Dobrota shore towards Kotor has pebble entries.
Be honest about the scale
The village is 400 metres long with two churches, a museum and a boat ride. There is no shop worth the name, no shade at midday and nothing that fills an afternoon — children run out of Perast before adults do.
