Water taxis leave the quay continuously for the man-made island church: five minutes each way, about EUR 5-10 return.

Perast Museum, Bujovic Palace
A sea-captains' collection in a 1694 waterfront palace: the Perast sword, Venetian flags and portraits. Closed Mondays in season.

Swim off the stone steps
There is no real beach here; locals drop straight in from the promenade ladders, or walk to the small pebble cove at the edge.
Dinner at Hotel Conte
The village's best-known waterfront table: Boka seafood, a serious wine list and live musicians on summer evenings.

Getting there
Blue Line bus from Kotor
The Kotor-Risan bus stops on the main road above the village roughly hourly and costs about EUR 1.50. Walk down from there.
Drive and park outside
Cars are banned from the seafront May-October. Use the north or south lots, around EUR 8 a day, cash only, no pre-booking.
Boat from Kotor
Bay tours and water taxis cover the 12km in about 30 minutes, usually bundled with the Blue Cave and a swim stop.

May, June and September, when the light is soft and the coaches thin

If you've got one day
Morning
Take the 9am boat to Our Lady of the Rocks, before the Kotor excursions land, and see the votive silver plates inside.
Late morning
Climb St Nicholas bell tower, then walk the single seafront street end to end. It takes about twenty minutes.
Lunch
Eat late and slowly on a waterfront terrace. The coach crowd peaks between noon and 2.30pm, so simply let it pass.
Afternoon
Swim off the promenade ladders, then climb the lanes behind the village for the view straight down onto both islands.
Evening
Stay the night. Once the last bus goes the village empties and dinner is lit only by palace windows and moored boats.

Blue Cave and Mamula
Speedboats from the quay run out to the Lustica peninsula's glowing sea cave and the old island fortress at the bay mouth.
