SPORT & SEASON
This is water-polo country with a lower-league football club: the biggest day in Kotor's sporting year is a trail race finishing in the Old Town, not a match.

VPK Primorac Kotor
The town's water polo and swimming club, founded on 30 July 1922, Montenegrin champions in 2023/24 and winners of the LEN Champions League in 2008/09. It also runs the local swimming school — phone 032/301-044.
Check the federation calendar first
Fixture dates for the Montenegrin water polo championship and cup, and for swimming meets, are published by the national federation in Podgorica rather than by the clubs themselves.
Boka Bay Trail
A late-April trail race with five courses around the bay, from 7.8km with 440m of climb to an 82.3km, 4,100m ultra, finishing at Kotor's Old Town or the citadel. Entries run roughly €23 to €99 depending on distance and how early you sign up.
FK Bokelj
Kotor's football club plays below the Montenegrin top flight, at the small Stadion pod Vrmcem on the edge of town. Cheap to get into and nothing like a Podgorica crowd.
Nearest top-flight football
For the Montenegrin first division you go to Podgorica, roughly 90 minutes by road, where FK Budućnost play at the City Stadium.
