EAT LIKE A LOCAL
Adriatic cooking with a Montenegrin mountain accent: grilled fish sold by the kilo, prosciutto and cheese from the hills, and a market that undercuts every terrace in the Old Town.

Jadran kod Krsta
Family-run on the seafront at Slovenska obala 10 since 1976, a few minutes' walk from the Old Town gate. Fish, shellfish and a serious wine list on a terrace over the water, open daily 8am to midnight, with live music some evenings.

Zelena pijaca — the green market
Budva's produce market: figs, peaches, olives, Njegusi prosciutto and mountain cheese, plus bread and pastries. The way to eat well for very little if you have a kitchen, and the best place to taste before you buy.
The Old Town lanes for cheap plates
Behind the three-church square the alleys hold bakeries and small grills doing burek, pizza slices, cevapi and pljeskavica for a few euros — the counterweight to the seafront terraces two streets away.
Know how fish is priced
Fresh fish on the coast is sold by the kilogram, not by the plate, and the bill is set when the waiter weighs it. Ask the price per kilo and the weight of the fish before you agree. Order crni rizot (squid-ink risotto) or grilled sea bass and a carafe of Krstac to go with it.
