Alebrijes de Oaxaca
The city's club plays in Mexico's second tier at the Estadio Tecnológico, north of the centre. Seasons run Apertura July–December and Clausura January–May.

Two Mondays of dance delegations from across the state fill the hillside auditorium on the Cerro del Fortín; tickets in bands, with free lower tiers.
Pelota mixteca
A pre-Hispanic handball played with a heavy studded glove on long dirt courts on the city's edge, usually at weekends. Free to watch.
