Two coasts, only one of them safe to swim — and grey whales in the channel all winter.
Playa Chileno
The safest swimming on the corridor: a protected cove with shallow water, snorkelling off the rocks and shade palapas. Ages 3+.
El Arco by boat
Glass-bottom pangas from the Cabo marina round the arch and the sea-lion colony in about forty-five minutes. Choppy on windy mornings. Ages 5+.
Whale watching, winter
Grey and humpback whales pass from December to April; boats leave from both marinas and shorter trips suit small children better. Ages 4+.
Turtle releases
Hatchlings are released at dusk on the Pacific beaches from around November to March, run by local camps for a donation. Ages 3+.
The Pacific side is dangerous
Playa Solmar and the ocean-facing beaches have a shore break and undertow that drown strong adults. Swim only where the flags and lifeguards are.
