Dawn procession of monks. Watch silently from across the road, no flash, never block the path. Don't buy street sticky rice to hand over.
Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Centre

Tamarind cooking class
Market tour then a hands-on Lao class by the Nam Khan: jeow, mok pa and sticky rice. Book ahead. Closed Sundays.
Free the Bears at Kuang Si
Rescued Asiatic black bears beside the falls, with a larger wildlife sanctuary 8km on. Bear Care tours fund the work.
Bamboo bridge over the Nam Khan
Rebuilt by hand each dry season and swept away every monsoon, 5,000 kip to cross. Leads to riverside restaurants opposite.
