Working dairy at Ban Muang Khay on the Kuang Si road, open 9am–5pm daily. The 45-minute Buffalo Buffet Adventure is US$11 for adults and US$5 for ages 3–12, and covers feeding, washing and a milking demonstration; ice cream and cheese are made on site.

No riding at all: you walk alongside rescued elephants on a roughly 2.5km jungle trek about 20km from town, with transport included. Under-3s go free and 4–11s get 25% off, but the trek is not recommended under four — the afternoon treat-making session is the easier option with small children.

An 18-hectare park 10km from town with waterfalls, a sensory garden, a treetop walk, shaded salas, a viewpoint café and picnic areas. Multi-activity passes start around US$23 including the return shuttle, which saves arranging a tuk-tuk.

A 100m multi-tiered waterfall with natural pools 15km southwest of town, about half an hour by road, plus ziplines and a rope course. Harness activities need riders between 30kg and 120kg, so smaller children stick to the falls, the gardens and the cafés.

A small walk-through butterfly garden on the Kuang Si falls road, listed by the provincial tourism office among the area's nature attractions. It works best as the shady half hour between the waterfall pools and the drive back into town.
