Fort Jesus Museum

UNESCO-listed Portuguese fort of 1593 with later Omani additions, shipwreck finds and views over the old port.

Haller Park

A cement quarry rehabilitated into forest and wetland at Bamburi, with giraffe feeding, hippos and crocodiles.

Old Town door-spotting

Carved Swahili and Indian doors are the Old Town's signature. Guides point out the dated and armorial ones.

Mombasa Marine Park

Snorkelling and glass-bottom boats over the reef off Nyali and Bamburi, reachable straight from the beach hotels.

Mandhry Mosque

Dating to 1570 and still in daily use. View from outside and dress modestly; it is a working mosque, not a sight.
