Aqaba is a special economic zone and alcohol is easier to find here than anywhere in Jordan outside Amman's hotels. Most of it is on the corniche and in the hotels.

Restaurants and bars around the marina north of town, busiest from about nine. A few dinars in a taxi from the corniche.

Ropes course and ziplines at Ayla's Marina Village, open 3pm to midnight for ages four up. The one genuinely late thing here that is not a bar.

The dive centres run night dives on the south coast reefs. Book earlier in the day, because most need the numbers well in advance.

Families out until midnight, shisha and ice cream, and the lights of Eilat straight across the bay. Dry, and the busiest part of town.
