Sumo three times a year, two baseball clubs across town and a marathon that closes the centre.
Ryogoku Kokugikan
Tokyo hosts sumo basho in January, May and September, fifteen days each. The other three tournaments run in Osaka in March, Nagoya in July and Fukuoka in November.
Giants and Swallows
Nippon Professional Baseball runs late March to October — the Yomiuri Giants under the Tokyo Dome roof, the Yakult Swallows outdoors at Jingu.
FC Tokyo, Ajinomoto Stadium
J1 football out west at Chofu, with a season running roughly February to December. Tickets are straightforward through the club and rarely sell out.
Tokyo Marathon and the moat
The city marathon takes over the centre in early spring. Any other morning, join the runners on the five-kilometre loop around the Imperial Palace moat.
