No club of its own, but a volcano to race up, a marine reserve to dive and reliable summer breeze.
Football down the coast
Taormina has no league club. Catania play an hour south and Messina forty minutes north, both in the lower divisions; Italian seasons run August to May.
Racing on Etna
Trail, sky and road races circle the volcano from spring to autumn, including a mountain marathon that climbs from the coast to the refuge at 1,900 metres.
Diving Isola Bella
The marine reserve around the island is shallow and clear; dive centres at Mazzarò run reef and night dives from roughly May to October.
Sailing the Ionian
Boats charter out of Riposto and Giardini Naxos for the coast and the Aeolian Islands. The summer breeze is dependable and afternoons get choppy.
